Leanne and son 2019

Leanne Franson was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1963. She studied Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montréal, graduating with distinction in 1985. She did further study in Ceramics at Banff Centre, School of Fine Arts in 1988-89. After working as a dishwasher, massage therapist, short-order cook, waitress, foot courier and clerk at a fine arts materials shop, she began illustrating children's books in 1992.

She has worked with fine editors such as Soulières Éditeur, Orca Press, Pearson, Annick Press, Scholastic Canada, Les éditions de la courte échelle, Bayard Canada, and many more. A list of her books can be seen on the bibliography page.

She lives with her fourteen year old son, Benjamin, her calico cat, and her Pyreneese/Border Collie dog in Martensville, just outside of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Leanne also makes porcelain animals and stoneware pottery in her home ceramics studio, under the name Scattered Fingers, on Facebook, Etsy, and Instagram..
